Introducing my newest little guy!
Baby boy Brody "Cruz" Sissom was born 3 ½ weeks ago on October 12th (just as planned). Joe and I headed to the hospital for a scheduled C-section (my 3rd) around 10:00 AM and "Cruz" made his debut a short couple of hours later. Say what you want in support of or against C-sections, but for type A planners like myself.. you can't beat the efficiency!
Despite the fact that we knew the exact hour that baby boy would be arriving, we didn't have the nursery complete. In fact.. we are still lacking basics like a rocking chair and curtains AND I frantically packed my hospital bag the morning we headed out #thirdchildprobs.
After a long time trying, and 39 weeks and 3 days of waiting... at 12:33 PM, my baby boy arrived. He was 7 lbs. 8 oz., my smallest ever.
We've since learned that he is content, very sleepy, and for now.. an avid milk drinker and napper. He has a head of dark hair, his Daddy's full lips and the cutest little button nose (if I do say so myself).
Cruz is a Portuguese baby name meaning cross. While we originally planned on calling him Brody, we had a last minute change of heart in the hospital and decided that he would go by Cruz in order to keep "the C thing going." R.I.P. monogrammed blankets, outfits, hats and room decor.
Joe, Cooper, Campbell, Cruz and I are all home now after a FABULOUS hospital stay. Staying in the hospital post-baby is honestly one of my favorite things! I mean seriously.. there is a button that you push if you need someone to help you, they bring you all of your food, and those nurses know how to swaddle babies into perfect little "baby burritos." My doctor was willing to send me home on the 4th day, but I quickly assured her I thought I needed one more night:)
Once home, I quickly realized that I was waaaaaaay too cocky about the whole having an infant thing. I figured.. 3'rd baby, " Been there, done that.. I got this."
Nope.
Infants are tough whether they are your first or your third. I think I blocked out all my memories of sleepless nights, milk production woes and general exhaustion. Add to that, 2 boys with LOTS of energy and multiple activites, well.. I'm not going to lie to you, things around here have been a little rough (hence getting this post live about 3 weeks past the time I had intended).
Buuuuuuut...
With Cruz being my third, I knew that I would love him to pieces immediately. I forgot how happy it makes me just to hold and stare at a brand new baby. I could (and probably will) spend a good amount of time over the next months doing exactly that.
My hope is to slowly start working my way back into a blogging schedule. The plan is to be very lenient/forgiving with myself. Cruz willing.
I will be posting the recipe for Bacon Honey Mustard Bowls this week, and you guys.. don't miss this one. It's 1-pot, quick to throw together, and I've been living on it for the last week. Excited to share this one with you!! Make sure to check back and grab the recipe.
