Simply Sissom's Best of April 2019. A recap of all the recipes and happenings at Simply Sissom this month + some great freebies!

    I SEE SUN!

Not just the "if I squint real hard maybe I can see a sliver peeking out from behind that enormous cloud type, either. Because it's April! The kids are back to playing outside, I've got the windows open and country music blaring during my nightly dinner prep (country music + winter aren't a match if you were wondering). I've had a renewed energy in the kitchen after a long, isolating Winter (<- ok, little dramatic, but seriously!).

    Best of April 2019: Recipes

Farmers markets are opening, fresh Spring produce is available in the stores and berries, well.. they no longer cost $1.298,457 dollars for a small container. The recipes that I've shared this month have taken full advantage. Chicken Sausage Flatbread Pizzas with market fresh zucchini amongst the toppings, super simple prosciutto salad wraps that boast arugula and crisp veggies in their ingredient list, sweet carrot cake overnight oats and a basic egg salad topped with Spring pea shoots! Yep, it was a good month. You can check out ALL of the April recipes by clicking HERE or on the image above.

    Meal Planning:

A couple of months ago Simply Sissom conducted a survey asking you (the readers) what your biggest struggle is when you are trying to get dinner on the table. There were 2 top responses.

    1. Time - with kids extra-curricular activities MANY people said that finding time to meal prep or even to sit down as a family is tough.
    2. Creativity -  SO many people said they are in a "dinner-rut" and struggle with coming up with unique recipes that their family will actually enjoy.

I think I've come up with a helpful tool! Obviously it involves a meal plan (it's kind of my thing). I spend about an hour each Sunday night creating our meal plan and ordering our groceries online. It occurred to me, that it might be helpful if I shared MY family's meal plan with clickable links to the recipes. I'm already spending the time picking simple real food recipes from the web, why should you? I will NEVER include recipes on these meal plans that I haven't tested and that my family hasn't loved. Keep in mind, that these are my real-life meal plans, so if we are eating out or have an event, the meal plan will reflect that. Click HERE or on the image above to check it out.

    Smoothie Making:

One of my favorite things about warm weather is swapping out SOME of my coffee for smoothies! Last Summer I put together an eBook containing my 5 favorite make-ahead smoothie recipes (we'll definitely do it again for 2019). You can download it HERE or by clicking on the image above.
