Best of September 2018, a round-up of September recipes and happenings at Simply Sissom.
Pin Best of September 2018 for later!
Well, hi friends! Fall is officially here (fiinaaaaaaly!!!) and we meet again! ❤️
September was a month of survival around here. It completed weeks 35-38 of my pregnancy and full disclosure.. I slowed waaaaaaaaay down.
Life is currently controlled by the severity of my back pain and swollen ankles. I swear.. pregnancy in your late 30's is no joke. On a positive note, baby boy #3 is scheduled to make his debut just 8 days from now, and we cannot wait for his arrival!!
One development that I should share with you is my new obsession with freezer meals. I recently came across THIS POST from Pinch of Yum that guides you through creating 12 healthy freezer meals (that you'll actually love). My favorite thing is the downloadable document with all 12 recipes in cute little recipe card form. The chicken meatballs are one of my go-to recipes when I need a quick dinner!

In other news my cooking style this month can best be described as "use as few dishes and ingredients as possible." At this point I've pretty much given up on creating new recipes and have been focusing on sharing/feeding my fam good old tried and true recipes. Let's take a look at what has been going on in the kitchen this month!
- Whole Wheat Blueberry Oat Freezer Waffles// 2. Garlic Smashed Potatoes// 3. Roasted Potato, Sausage and Kale Soup// 4. Simple Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Wings// 5. Twice Baked Mexican Sweet Potatoes (Freezer-Friendly)// 6. Slow Cooker Spinach and Artichoke Dip
Looking Into October:
Just a quick reminder, I will continue to post recipes in October as I am able, but things will definitely be slowing down around Simply Sissom as we adjust to life with our new baby boy.
I am planning on letting you guys know with a post on the blog when baby Brody makes his arrival and you can always follow along on Instagram which is @simplysissom.
October Cravings:
Normally October is full of Pumpkin Spice this and that. This year is going to be a little different. My kids are going to be lucky to have 3 meals a day. As much as I LOVE homemade pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin muffins and apple cinnamon oatmeal.. I will most likely be focused on creating simple, real-life dinner recipes that will keep everyone fed and happy!
