Smoothie week is rolling on.. if you aren't following along with on Instagram @simplysissom... head over! There's giveaways, tips and tricks for getting kids to ACTUALLY DRINK smoothies and daily smoothie recipes that aren't here on the blog!

Alright.. now that business is out of the way, let's focus on the SMOOTHIE STAR OF THE DAY, this Go Green Spinach Apple Smoothie. Stop! Stop! Stop! Don't leave. I know I probably didn't win you over with the title. Spinach and apples????? You guys, just YES.

As always I'm going to level with you. This smoothie is on a different level than the Get Up And Go Healthy Coffee Smoothie and The Strawberry Orange Dreamsicle smoothie... it's a LEGIT good for you GREEN smoothie and can't be held to the same standards as it's sweeter counterparts. That said.. it's the tastiest way I know of to get in 2 cups of spinach + an avocado + a green apple. Seriously... this guy packs a serious nutritional punch.

    Let's discuss...

What Ingredients Are In This Go Green Spinach Apple Smoothie?

    • Almond Milk - I recommend almond milk (for health benefits AND taste), but you can sub out any type of milk that you like.
    • Spinach - Packs a ton of nutrients and helps you get in those greens!
    • Avocado - Healthy fats + something that keeps you feeling full.
    • Green Apple - An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
    • Banana - Adds creaminess to the smoothie AND a great source of potassium and B6.
    • Nut Butter - Protein, protein, protein.
    • Honey - Naturally sweetens the smoothie.
    • Ginger - For a little kick.

How Do You Make A Go Green Spinach Smoothie?

    First, gather your ingredients

Next, add everything to the jar of your blender.

    Then, blend, blend, blend.

    Finally, drink up!

FAQ's About This Go Green Spinach Apple Smoothie Recipe:

Can I Make A Vegan Go Green Spinach Apple Smoothie?

You bet. The recipe already calls for almond milk so all you need to do is sub out the honey for agave.

Do You Peel The Apples Before Making This Spinach Apple Smoothie Recipe?

I do. I think if you have a high speed blender you could probably skip this step, but better safe than sorry. I would hate for there to be apple peel lumps in the blended smoothie.

What Type of Blender Do You Recommend?

I personally use THIS Blendtec blender (<–affiliate link) I purchased it refurbished (<– which is not as gross as it sounds). It comes packaged in plastic with a brand new jar/lid, etc. Only the insides have been refurbished. Buying a high-speed blender is an investment, and this saved me quite a bit of money.

I have also heard great things about Vitamix although I have never owned one. I’m going to level with, the reason I went with Blendtec is the Vitamix is VERY tall and didn’t fit underneath my cabinets.

Can This Go Green Spinach Apple Smoothie Be Made Ahead?

Yes! This smoothie will keep in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours once blended. I like to store mine in mason jars with lids.

The Go Green Spinach Apple Smoothie Recipe calls for almond milk, can I use regular cow milk instead?

Of course, any type of milk that you would like to use will work perfectly.

I have a nut allergy, can I skip the nut butter when making this recipe?

Absolutely! For me, the taste of the nut butter gives the smoothie a richness that I enjoy, but it can definitely be eliminated without compromising taste.
