Instructions: Rice Krispie Monster Treats
Step 1: In a large pot over medium- low heat, melt butter. Add marshmallows and stir until completely smooth. Remove from heat. Add crispy rice cereal. Stir with a rubber spatula coated in cooking spray until fully combined.
Step 2: Evenly press mixture into a 9x9 inch pan lined with parchment paper. Cool for 40 minutes.
Step 3: Cut into evenly sized rectangles.
Step 4: Pour candy melts into a small microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 45 seconds. Stir. Microwave candies an additional 15 seconds. Stir. Repeat until candies are completely melted..
Step 5: Dip the crispy treats in the melted candy. Smooth with a butter knife and then set on parchment paper.
Step 6: While the coating is still warm, gently press the candy eyes into place and use the sprinkles to add “hair” to your monster. Allow crispy treats to set for 45 minutes prior to serving.
Hint: When selecting a bowl or cup for your melting chocolates, make sure it is narrow enough that a Rice Krispie Treat can be dipped at least halfway down. This will help you get a smoother coat of chocolate onto the treats.
Storage
The Rice Krispie Monster Treats do not do well when frozen or refrigerated because the candy eyeballs will melt and run. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
The Rice Krispie Treats can be made in advance and stored in the freezer until you are ready to decorate. Allow them to cool completely and then wrap tightly with plastic wrap. They can be frozen for up to 3 months.
Top tip
Candy melt quality can vary greatly. Cheaper chocolate can be clumpy and difficult to work with. We recommend using Wilton chocolate candy melts.

FAQ
The texture of melting wafers can get clumpy when it gets too hot. Make sure to refer to the package directions. It is also important that you do not allow any water to get into the chocolate, this will cause it to seize. Always choose a high-quality melting wafer like Wilton brand.
Yes. Just make sure to use 10 ounces.
