Creating fun Halloween cupcakes doesn't have to be frightening! These spooky Ghost Cupcake Toppers are simple enough for decorating newbies and a fun project to do with kids. Using 2 spoons, melting chocolate, candy eyeballs and sprinkles you can create adorable ghost-like toppers that upgrade basic chocolate cupcakes to the star of any Halloween party.
This recipe was inspired by a Tik Tok. The technique used to create the ghosts is popular, but we loved the addition of the black confetti sprinkle as a mouth. It is simpler than using decorating gel as suggested by most tutorials.

Instructions: Decorating Cupcakes
Step 1: Put a 1M decorating tip into the piping bag, and fill it with the frosting of your choice.
Step 2: Hold piping bag straight up with the tip just above the surface of the cupcake. Start at the center of the cupcake and pipe a swirl towards the outer edge. Gradually release pressure on the bag, letting the frosting taper at the edge.
Step 3: Position the hardened ghost cupcake topper into the center of the cupcake.
Storage
The Easy Ghost Cupcake Toppers do not do well when frozen or refrigerated, but will be fine at room temperature for up to one week (or more). For this reason, we do not recommend adding the topper to the cupcake until just before serving.
The chocolate cupcakes with buttercream icing are freezer-safe and can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 months. They will remain tasty when refrigerated for up to 3 days.
Top tip
White chocolate candy melt quality can vary greatly. Cheaper chocolate can be clumpy and difficult to work with. We recommend using Ghirardelli white chocolate melts.

FAQ
Absolutely. We wanted vibrant colors and to keep things simple. For that reason we opted for a shortcut, but feel free to use the gel food coloring of your choice to get the exact look you like.
We do not recommend it. Although it will likely be fine, sometimes the parchment paper sticks to the warm chocolate.
No problem, you can opt to have mouthless ghosts or you can put some of your midnight black frosting into a small piping bag, cut the tip and create a small mouth for your ghosts.
