Gourmet Marshmallow Creme Rice Krispie Treats ... simplified! A delicious twist on a classic recipe. Gooey and sweet, these treats are made with marshmallow fluff instead of marshmallows. A delicious, quick and easy dessert.
I made these cereal treats and used a jar of marshmallow creme even though I was skeptical. WOW .. this is my new go-to rice krispie treat recipe. It was so simple and the result was every bit as delicious as the classic recipe.

Bailey's Thoughts ...
As you may have noticed, there are no highly complicated, technical desserts on Simply Sissom. Not because I don't enjoy the occasional decadent gourmet goodie but because: No, I will not be doing that. If it requires a candy thermometer, deep-frying or a flame of any sort -it's not happening in my kitchen.
These marshmallow fluff Rice Krispie treats are absurdly easy to make. They are an all-occasion classic treat; bake sale, potluck, birthday party, school snack - these guys are always going to be a crowd pleaser. Marshmallow creme keeps things simple but still yields the chewy, gooey texture of classic homemade Rice Krispie Treats.
NOTE: My recipe (and helpful tricks) result in THICK Rice Krispie squares, nobody is interested in wimpy shapeless treats. There are thousands of Rice Krispie cereal square recipes out there, I'm just going to say it ... this one is the BEST. The whole family will love it.

Ingredients
Rice Krispie treats are made with only 4 simple ingredients.
- Butter - unsalted butter; ensures a soft and chewy Rice Krispie treat
- Marshmallow Creme - a marshmallow confectionary spread similar in flavor (but not texture) to a regular solid marshmallow
- Krispie Cereal - made of crisped rice and the single most important ingredient in this recipe
- Vanilla Extract - use a high quality vanilla or even vanilla bean paste to add delicious flavor to your Rice Krispies treats
- OPTIONAL: ½ cup confetti sprinkles - choose your favorite or use what you have on hand
Instructions
- Spray and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, spray non stick spray and measure out Krispie rice cereal. Mix in sprinkles if using.
- On low heat, add butter to a large pot. Once melted, add marshmallow fluff. Stir continuously until fluff is runny and melted. Add the vanilla.
- Pour melted marshmallow mixture onto the measured rice cereal. Stir until Rice Krispies are evenly coated.
- Quickly scoop the mixture into prepared pan. Use a damp or buttered spatula to press mixture into the pan until the whole pan is covered in an even layer.
- Place Krispie treats into the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Once treats are completely cool, slice into squares and serve immediately or wrap in plastic and store in an airtight container.
Top Tip
Marshmallow creme should always be melted on low heat and stirred constantly. If Marshmallow Creme gets too hot, the Rice Krispie treats will become tough instead of soft and chewy.
Substitutions
Rice Krispies - crispy rice cereal can be swapped out for your favorite cereal. Trix, Fruity Pebbles and Golden Grahams are all delicious options.
Marshmallow Creme - sub marshmallow creme for a 16 ounce bag of mini marshmallows.
Variations
There are endless options for Rice Krispie treat mix-ins and toppings. Here are a few of my favorite ideas.
Chocolate Covered Rice Krispie Treats - follow recipe as written. Once treats have cooled, temper milk chocolate and pipe onto the surface of the Rice Krispie treat OR dip them for a less messy option.
Cookie Crunch Rice Krispie Treats - Add ¾ cup of roughly crumbled frosted circus animal cookies + ½ cup confetti sprinkles to your Rice Krispies just before adding marshmallow creme. Reduce amount of Rice Krispies used by ½ cup.
Shaped Rice Krispie Treats - use a cookie cutter to cut your Rice Krispie Treats into fun shapes and sizes.
Storage
Rice Krispie treats can be cut into squares, wrapped in plastic wrap and stored in an airtight container at room temperature. When stored correctly they will remain fresh for 5-7 days. Do not refrigerate Rice Krispies, it can cause them to become stale.
When frozen, Rice Krispie Treats can be made in advance and stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. Allow treats to cool completely. Arrange treats into a single layer in an airtight bag. You can use a straw to suck out as much air as possible. Date the bag and freeze immediately.
Equipment
Some products listed below are affiliate links (this means I may earn a small commission if you purchase). I only link to things that I use in my home and love.
8"x 8" Professional Square Pan - It is important to use a straight edged pan so that your Krispie Treats have sharp clean edges. This one is my favorite.
Summer Pastel Confetti Sprinkles - these come in lots of different color and shape options. I use them often when baking.
FAQ
If your treats are soft, gooey and difficult to remove from the pan then your marshmallow fluff to cereal ratio is off. There is variation between marshmallow cremes from brand to brand (some have higher water content). Next time, add more cereal and reduce the amount of butter used by 1 tablespoon.
If you have the heat on your stove too high, the marshmallow fluff melts too fast. This creates a hard crunchy texture.

Description
These Chocolate Blended Overnight Oats are an easy healthy breakfast that requires only 5 minutes to prep.
Ingredients
For the Blended Oats:
- 4 cups milk *
- 3 ½ cups rolled oats
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- ½ cup cacao powder
- ½ cup pure maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
For The "Chocolate Frosting"
- ¼ cup + 2 tablespoons whole-milk vanilla yogurt
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions
For Blended Oats:
- Add all blended oat ingredients to a high-speed blender. Blend on high until completely smooth and there are no bits of oats visible.
- Divide oat mixture evenly between 8 jars or containers. Add lids and refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours.
OPTIONAL "Chocolate Frosting" Topping
- Melt dark chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave at 20 second intervals, stirring between. Continue until chocolate is smooth.

Notes
To test this recipe, I used whole milk, but use what you like and have on hand. Plant-based milks can be substituted at a 1:1 ratio.
Blended oats will stay fresh for 4-days in an airtight container when refrigerated.
Nutrition information was calculated using whole milk and without the "chocolate frosting" topping.
