Simply Sissom's Whole30 January Meal Planning Guide. A step-by-step approach to planning and implementing a successful Whole30. Downloadable meal prep planning tool and recipe Ebook included.
Okay! January 2nd is a couple days away, AKA.... Simply SIssom's Whole30 January is starting REAALLLLLLY soon.
Today, we take a quick minute and talk about meal planning for this Whole30 extravaganza (<-- yep. we fancy).
I'm not talking about getting crazy. No need to over complicate things. We aren't going to do major meal plans during Whole30 January, but I am giving you a free printable template to make your weekly planning super simple. And... I am LOADING YOU UP ON RECIPES so you have all kinds of delightful options to choose from as you decide what you want to eat this month.
My approach to meal planning has always gone through cycles (super organized -->>>> total lack of planning-->>> repeat). For 2018 my plan is to keep things somewhere in the middle and you will see that reflected in my plan below.
And here are the recipe links for what I'll be making the first week:
- Lemon Tahini Mason Jar Salad
- Thick N' Chunky Veggie Soup
- Chicken Basil Meatballs
- Pecan Crusted Chicken
- Freezer-Friendly Marinara Sauce
- Homemade Lara Bars
Here's a few small tips to keep in mind as you are planning your meals for the first week of Your Whole30 January.
- Repeat Meals: I like to have my breakfasts and lunches prepped and ready for the week before Monday. I chose 1 breakfast recipe (an egg scramble) that I will eat daily. To make breakfast as painless as possible I pre-chopped all the veggies and chose a sausage (from Applegate) that is pre-cooked and Whole30 compliant. For lunch, I chose 2 simple recipes and will alternate them daily. Each can be made ahead.
- Consider your Schedule: We eat Sunday dinner at my Dad's house and will be going out Saturday night.. no need to plan for those days!
- Set aside 1 portion of leftovers from each dinner. My family is NOT doing Whole30 with me. Therefore... they probably aren't interested in eating ALL Whole30 meals. I plan to cook Whole30 compliant meals (that everyone will eat) Monday/Tuesday. Each night I will set aside 1 portion which I will eat Thursday/Friday. Wednesday is a compromise. I will make a meaty spaghetti sauce that is whole compliant and serve the boys theirs over pasta and mine over a sweet potato. On the nights that I am eating leftovers, I will make non-Whole30 meals for my family.
- Don't get fancy. If you LOVE cooking, go ahead and choose 1 recipe to go all out on, buuuuuut... if your goal isn't to hang out in the kitchen for hours... keep things simple. Choose meals that you are familiar with and that can be prepped or made ahead of time.
Okay... last thing. A little inspiration. Here is a nice list of recipes that I think would be fantastic to incorporate into your meal plan. This should be a great starting point for #simplysissomwhole30 !!!
